  • Women’s productivity in hostile work environments: evaluating organisational efforts to tackle workplace bullying and its mediating impact on psychological consequences
    C. Divyakala, A. Vasumathi
International Journal of Work Innovation, 2025
The present study explores how bullying at work affects women's productivity, with a particular focus on the mediating role of psychological consequences. Using Albert Bandura's social cognitive theory as a foundation, the research examines how workplace bullying can lead to a decline in women's self-efficacy and self-worth, as well as foster negative emotional states and reduced coping mechanisms. A questionnaire survey was conducted among female employees in the leather industry in Vellore and Tirupattur Districts of Tamil Nadu. The research design used in this study is descriptive. The statistical sample consisted of 527 female labourers. Observational learning plays a crucial role, wherein women witnessing bullying behaviours or the lack of appropriate consequences may internalise such attitudes, further impacting their psychological well-being. As a result, the study explores how the psychological consequences of workplace bullying significantly influence women's productivity in the workplace. The findings highlight the importance of implementing targeted interventions, such as anti-bullying policies, support systems, and mentorship opportunities, to reduce the adverse consequences of bullying at work and create a supportive work environment that empowers women and enhances their overall productivity and satisfaction.

    C. Divyakala, A. Vasumathi
International Journal of Services and Operations Management, 2025

The research demonstrates that a positive conflict management climate amplifies the favourable impact of psychological well-being on productivity while mitigating the adverse effects of emotional exhaustion on work performance. The study provides a comprehensive analysis of these variables, their means, standard deviations, and interrelationships. The climate of conflict management variable indicates varying perceptions, with a significant positive correlation linking it to psychological well-being, and a negative correlation with emotional exhaustion. the findings stress the central role of effective conflict resolution strategies in nurturing an environment that promotes both worker well-being and heightened productivity. the complex associations with productivity reveal a delicate balance where enhanced well-being, effective conflict resolution practices, and reduced emotional exhaustion contribute to improved work output.
  • Tracing the threads: A bibliometric exploration of workplace bullying, psychological well-being, and employee performance
    C. Divyakala, A. Vasumathi
    Multidisciplinary Reviews, 2024
This study provides a comprehensive bibliometric analysis that offers a quantitative and integrative examination of the research on workplace bullying, psychological well-being, and employee performance. Understanding the relationships among workplace bullying, psychological well-being, and job performance is critical for organizations to create a positive and healthy work environment. A review of the literature using bibliometric methods was performed on papers within the WoS database to analyze the research landscape regarding workplace bullying, psychological well-being, and job performance. Diverse analytical techniques were utilized, including citation analysis, cocitation analysis, coauthorship analysis, co-occurrence analysis, and bibliographic coupling, and the findings are presented. An analysis of citations, cooccurrences, and keyword cooccurrences in the field identified highly cited publications and key themes: positive psychology and well-being, mental health therapy and intervention, and gender differences in work. These insights can guide researchers in recognizing influential works, understanding collaboration patterns, and exploring emerging research areas. Ultimately, the direction and impact of future studies in the field should be enhanced. This study has practical implications for organizations by synthesizing existing knowledge and guiding the development of interventions and policies to address workplace bullying, enhance psychological well-being, and improve performance. The novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive bibliometric analysis, which offers a quantitative and integrative examination of the research on workplace bullying, psychological well-being, and job performance. By mapping the intellectual structure, identifying trends, and uncovering research gaps, this study provides a unique perspective on the interrelatedness of these constructs.
  • Exploring presenteeism trends: a comprehensive bibliometric and content analysis

    Frontiers in Psychology, 2024
ObjectiveThis research will conduct a bibliometric and content analysis of presenteeism from 2000 to 2023. It aims to investigate publication trends, authorship patterns, and significant publications by using presenteeism conceptualizations, measurements, determinants, consequences, and interventions analysis. The study provides valuable insights for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers about understanding and addressing workplace presenteeism issues.MethodsThe research involved conducting a bibliometric study to analyze presenteeism publication trends, authorship patterns, and significant publications. It also explored the evolution of presenteeism research over time, identifying contributing countries, institutions, and writers. The interdisciplinary nature of presenteeism research was emphasized, covering occupational health, psychology, management, and public health. The researchers have used VOS Viewer and R Studio (biblioshiny) for this study.ResultsThe study identified several elements influencing presenteeism, such as health issues, work-related factors, organizational culture, and individual characteristics. It further examined the impact of organizational policies, leadership support, employee assistance programs, and health promotion activities in reducing absenteeism and enhancing employee well-being. These findings highlight the importance of addressing these factors to mitigate presenteeism issues and promote a healthier work environment.ConclusionThis research identified deficiencies in presenteeism research and provided recommendations for future investigations in this field. It emphasized the need for standardized measures and methodologies, longitudinal studies to understand causality, and industry- and population-specific interventions. These insights can guide future research directions and interventions to address presenteeism issues in a rapidly changing work and research landscape.
