- Trustworthy text-to-image diffusion models: A timely and focused survey

Text-to-Image (T2I) Diffusion Models (DMs) have garnered widespread attention for their impressive advancements in image generation. However, their growing popularity has raised ethical and social concerns related to key non-functional properties of trustworthiness, such as robustness, fairness, security, privacy, and explainability, similar to those in traditional deep learning (DL) tasks. Conventional approaches for studying trustworthiness in DL tasks often inadequate for T2I DMs because of their unique characteristics, e.g., multi-modal nature, stochastic generation process, and high computational cost. Given these challenge, recent efforts have been made to develop new methods for investigating trustworthiness in T2I DMs via various means, including falsification, enhancement, verification and assessment. However, there is a notable lack of in-depth analysis concerning those non-functional properties and means. In this survey, we provide a timely and focused review of the literature on trustworthy T2I DMs, covering a concise-structured taxonomy from the perspectives of property, means, benchmarks and applications. Our review begins with an introduction to essential preliminaries of T2I DMs, and then we summarize key definitions and metrics specific to T2I tasks, based on which we analyze the corresponding means in recent literature. Additionally, we review benchmarks and domain applications of T2I DMs. Finally, we highlight the gaps in current research, discuss the limitations of existing methods, and propose future research directions to advance the development of trustworthy T2I DMs. Furthermore, we keep up-to-date updates in this field to track the latest developments and maintain our GitHub repository at: https://github.com/wellzline/Trustworthy_T2I_DMs . - Thermoelectric generator integrated in a range extender engine: experimental demonstration, thermal matching mechanisms, and additive fuel-economy gains

Bearing degradation prediction is essential for ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of rotating machinery, enabling timely fault diagnosis and maintenance scheduling. However, under complex operating conditions, variations in load and environment often lead to significant distribution discrepancies between laboratory and engineering data, thereby degrading prediction accuracy. Therefore, a degradation prediction method integrating transfer learning and fuzzy clustering is proposed. First, kurtosis and waveform index are identified as key degradation indicators through correlation analysis, enhancing feature representativeness while reducing redundancy. Subsequently, two semi-supervised domain adaptation methods, namely Transfer Component Analysis (TCA) and Correlation Alignment (CORAL), are employed to transfer and align features from laboratory bearings to wind turbine bearings. Finally, fuzzy c-means clustering is applied to determine cluster centers corresponding to healthy and faulty states, and the degradation degree is quantified based on the distance between the transferred features and these centers. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves an RMSE of 0.0580 and an MAE of 0.0451, outperforming BP, LSTM, TCA, and CORAL methods. In addition, t-SNE visualization and statistical metrics confirm that the proposed approach effectively improves cross-domain feature alignment. Further validation on the XJTU-SY dataset demonstrates its robustness and generalization capability. - NavDrive: Safety-Enhanced End-to-End Autonomous Driving With Navigation-Guided Diffusion Policy

Automated vehicles (AVs) are transforming urban transportation systems, as end-to-end autonomous driving models show great promise in enhancing traffic safety and operational efficiency. Despite these advances, their performance in highly interactive driving scenarios remains limited due to insufficient decision-making diversity and the absence of explicit safety guarantees. To address these challenges, we propose NavDrive, a safety-enhanced end-to-end autonomous driving framework that formulates planning as a multi-modal generative process.Specifically, NavDrive integrates navigation-based guidance into a diffusion policy. To focus on decision-critical information, a Decision-Aware Channel Fusion (DCF) module adaptively emphasizes regions involving key interactions between the ego vehicle and surrounding agents. Furthermore, a safety-aware generative planner refines trajectory samples toward feasible regions via the Target-Prior Diffusion Transformer (TDiT), which explicitly embeds physical constraints to ensure safe and human-aligned driving behaviors. Extensive experiments on the NAVSIM and nuScenes benchmarks demonstrate that NavDrive consistently outperforms existing baselines, delivering substantial gains in planning quality, safety, and robustness under complex and adverse conditions. Tactical decision-making plays a key role in ensuring the operational safety of autonomous vehicle (AV) systems. Recent environment perception techniques are built upon the deep learning (DL) approaches and utilize probabilistic representations to quantitatively capture the inherent uncertainties in networks. The downstream decision-making module shall utilize the perceived probabilistic information to derive proper maneuver decisions. However, how to translate the uncertainties of DL between the two stages to manage the risk remains an open problem. This paper proposes a holistic and interpretable framework that can explicitly represent uncertainties of DL-based perception and generate safe maneuvers by accounting for such uncertainties. By quantifying and propagating uncertainties of perceptions networks, an explicit link is established between DL perception uncertainty and safety utility of decision-making via the Adaptive Likelihood mechanism. Built on this basis, we propose an uncertainty-aware decision-making approach (<italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">PUALD-Net</i>) that can incorporates both regression and classification perception uncertainties into probabilistic reasoning and derive risk-bounding decisions. Real-world field test results demonstrate that the proposed framework can effectively ensure safety, and outperforms existing approaches in terms of safety and driving capability metrics (Infraction Rate and Driving Score) in adverse scenarios incurring high perception uncertainties. - Co-Design of Bandwidth-Awareness Scheduling Protocol and Vehicular Platoon Control Subject to DoS Attacks Over VANETs

This paper deals with the dynamic event-triggered platoon control problem for automated vehicles subject to denial-of-service attacks over the resource-constrained vehicular adhoc networks. A unified framework is established where the longitudinal dynamics of linearized third-order vehicular platoon, the constant time headway strategy as well as the resource-constrained communication are simultaneously considered. For the resource-efficient purpose, a dynamic event-triggered mechanism is developed where the triggering thresholds are adaptively adjusted based on a bandwidth-awareness parameter α as well as the state variables to trade a balance between communication efficiency and control performance. Furthermore, a set of Bernoulli random variables are introduced to describe the nature of denial-of-service attacks. The main objective of this paper is to co-design a dynamic event-triggered mechanism and a platoon controller to ensure exponential mean-square stability and <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">H</i>∞ performance under resource-limited networks and denial-of-service attacks. With the aid of the established Lyapunov function, the sufficient condition of the desired platoon controller is designed, and then the corresponding parameters are derived by recurring to a set of linear matrix inequalities. Navigating unsignalized roundabouts in mixed-autonomy traffic presents significant challenges due to dense vehicle interactions, lane-changing complexities, and behavioral uncertainties of human-driven vehicles (HDVs). This paper proposes a safety-critical decision-making framework for connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) navigating dual-lane roundabouts alongside HDVs. We formulate the problem as a multi-agent Markov Decision Process and develop a hierarchical safety assessment mechanism that evaluates three critical interaction types: CAV-to-CAV (C2C), CAV-to-HDV (C2H), and CAV-to-Boundary (C2B). A key contribution is our lane-specific uncertainty model for HDVs, which captures distinct behavioral patterns between inner and outer lanes, with outer-lane vehicles exhibiting $2.3\times$ higher uncertainty due to less constrained movements. We integrate this safety framework with a multi-agent Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) algorithm that employs safety-aware pruning to eliminate high-risk trajectories while maintaining computational efficiency. The reward function incorporates Shapley value-based credit assignment to balance individual performance with group coordination. Extensive simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach under both fully autonomous (100% AVs) and mixed traffic (50% AVs + 50% HDVs) conditions. Compared to benchmark methods, our framework consistently reduces trajectory deviations across all AVs and significantly lowers the rate of Post-Encroachment Time (PET) violations, achieving only 1.0% in the fully autonomous scenario and 3.2% in the mixed traffic setting. - Safety-Enhanced Trajectory Planning for Autonomous Vehicles: Optimization Based on Dynamic Safety Corridors

In complex traffic environments, autonomous vehicles must simultaneously cope with multi-source potential risks arising from road boundaries, lane structures, and both dynamic and static traffic participants. These risks interact and overlap across spatial and temporal dimensions, increasing the safety challenges of trajectory planning. Existing methods face limitations in handling high-dimensional obstacle avoidance constraints and dynamic environmental factors, often resulting in degraded trajectory quality and reduced safety. To overcome these challenges, this paper proposes a safety-enhanced trajectory planning method, which improves trajectory quality through the recursive generation of the Spatio-Temporal Risk Map (STRM) and the Dynamic Safety Corridor (DSC). First, based on potential field theory, a risk modeling approach is applied to various traffic elements, such as road boundaries, lane markings, and both dynamic and static obstacles, to generate the STRM, thereby mapping the traffic environment information into a unified risk space. Subsequently, a method for constructing the DSC is proposed, considering boundary risk thresholds. This approach effectively decouples the relationship between complex environmental factors and driving tasks, thereby simplifying collision constraints. Finally, an Optimal Control Problem (OCP) is formulated, taking into account factors such as trajectory smoothness, comfort, and collision risk, in order to generate safe optimized trajectories. The effectiveness of the proposed method in various multi-lane scenarios was evaluated through simulation experiments. The results show that the proposed method significantly enhances the safety of trajectory planning, especially in highly dynamic and high-risk environments. - Enhancing Data Efficiency With a Trustworthy Counterfactual Generative Model

Leveraging limited data to synthesize an additional training set is essential for robotic vision, particularly in dynamic environments where collecting large datasets is impractical. Traditional robotic vision systems rely on extensive training data for object recognition and scene understanding but struggle to generalize to real-world variations, such as lighting conditions, occlusions, and sensor noise. This article proposes causal diffuse variational autoencoder (causal DiffuseVAE), a novel method integrating causal inference with high-fidelity image synthesis to generate counterfactual images. By combining the disentanglement properties of variational autoencoders (VAEs) with the generative capabilities of diffusion models, causal DiffuseVAE produces realistic, interpretable simulations of variations, such as shadows and occlusions. This combination enables data-efficient generative modeling by learning from small subsets and synthesizing missing or unseen samples. In addition, causal inference ensures that generated data follow real-world dependencies, making it robust and interpretable for deployment in unpredictable environments.
