Deep learning approaches for diagnosing Alzheimer's Disease: A Comparative Study of ResNet50, CNN, and MobileNet Shekhar, Seema Tinker, Deepak Dembla, Sunil Kumar Gupta, Ajay Kumar, Ashish Kumar Handbook of Deep Learning Models for Healthcare Data Processing Disease Prediction Analysis and Applications, 2025 Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative condition that gradually impairs cognitive functions and memory and is the leading cause of dementia in the elderly. With an increasingly aging global population, AD is projected to affect 12.7 million adults aged sixty-five and older by 2050. This disease poses a particularly severe challenge in countries like China, where it is the fifth leading cause of death, affecting over fifteen million people aged sixty and over. The financial burden associated with AD treatment is also expected to rise dramatically. In this chapter, the authors propose three deep learning models—ResNet50, CNN, and MobileNet—for the accurate diagnosis of AD. Leveraging the power of deep learning and transfer learning, they aim to enhance the effectiveness of detecting AD at various stages. Performance evaluations reveal that ResNet50 achieved the highest accuracy at 92%, outperforming CNN and MobileNet, which showed accuracy of 85% and 89%, respectively. ResNet50 provides the most balanced precision, recall, and F1 scores across all stages of dementia, while CNN requires optimization. MobileNet, although not as effective as ResNet50, shows potential as a viable option in resource-constrained environments. These results underscore the importance of model selection for early and accurate AD diagnosis, paving the way for timely intervention and improved patient outcomes. Future work should focus on enhancing CNN performance and exploring ensemble methods to further improve classification accuracy.
Utilizing machine learning algorithms for cardiovascular disease prediction: “Detailed analysis based on medical parameters” Mahesh Kumar Joshi, Deepak Dembla, Suman Bhatia Medical Engineering and Physics, 2025 Among the most prevalent and dangerous ailments impacting human health are cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Early diagnosis may help avoid or lessen CVDs, thereby lowering death rates. Several clinical methods have already been deployed for diagnosing and treating CVD. However, one interesting approach is to use Machine Learning (ML) approaches to identify risk characteristics. The suggested model uses a variety of ML approaches to accurately forecast cardiac disease. Initially, the CVD dataset is collected and trained in the Python tool. The null and duplicate records are removed in the data preprocessing stage. Moreover, extracts relevant information from the dataset using feature extraction. Inter Quartile Range (IQR) is used in AdaBoost and Gradient Boosting to identify continuously distributed outliers in data. Moreover, 16 ML classifiers are employed to accurately forecast the CVD disease. Compared with other approaches, the AdaBoost and Gradient Boosting approach gained better results of 96 %. The developed model dataset is trained and tested with k-fold testing. GridSearchCV and the results are visualized using the SHAP tool. The designed technique enhances the CVD prediction system using several MLs.

Globally, heart disease cases are prevalent and constitute a significant cause of mortality. Manifestations such as chest discomfort and irregular heartbeat are notable symptoms. The healthcare sector has amassed substantial knowledge in this domain. Analyzing the research, this paper delves into the concept of utilizing ML algorithms to predict cardiac diseases. In this research will employ a diverse array of machine learning techniques, including decision tree, support vector classifier, random forest, K-NN, logistic regression and naive Bayes. These algorithms utilize specific characteristics to forecast cardiac diseases effectively. Leveraging machine learning algorithms to analyze and predict outcomes from the extensive healthcare-generated data shows considerable promise. Recent advancements in machine learning models have incorporated numerous features, and in this study, propose the integration of these features in machine learning algorithms to forecast cardiovascular ailments. The main objective of this research is to identify the performance of the mentioned machine learning algorithms for predicting cardiovascular elements.
