  • Assessing State-Wise Policy Frameworks for Electric Vehicle Adoption: Transportation Sector in India
Chandra Kant Upadhyay, S Mohan Krishnan, Aditya Gupta, Sukhpreet Kaur
1st International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies and Computational Intelligence Towards Sustainable Energy Transition Setcom 2025, 2025
The rapid growth of the transportation sector has led to significant challenges in terms of environmental sustainability and energy security. Electric vehicles (EVs) have emerged as a promising solution to mitigate these challenges by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. This paper focuses on analyzing the policy measures and their implications for state-wise electric vehicle adoption in India. India, as a signatory to global climate agreements, has set ambitious targets for EV adoption to combat air pollution and reduce its carbon footprint. However, the adoption of EVs across different states in India is influenced by various factors, including infrastructure development, economic conditions, consumer awareness, and policy support. This study conducts a comprehensive review of the policies and incentives the central and state governments provide to promote EV adoption. This paper also highlights the policy initiatives such as financial incentives, tax exemptions, subsidies, and charging infrastructure development.

  • Generation “Z” willingness to participate in crowdshipping services to achieve sustainable last-mile delivery in emerging market
Chandra Kant Upadhyay, Vijayshri Tiwari, Vineet Tiwari
International Journal of Emerging Markets, 2024
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to provide trilogy in the emerging market for the establishment of business, economy and environment which is the new word for the development of any nation to attain sustainable development. This research explores the prospective crowdshipper's willingness to participate in crowdshipping services through a motivational factor.Design/methodology/approachTo understand the trend and future of this concept, Google Trends Analysis (GTA) has been used. The theoretical model has been validated empirically using a survey of 287 Indian (Generation Y and Z) urban participants, but focused is on Generation “Z” participants and subsequent analysis have been carried out using structural equation modelling.FindingsA theoretical framework has been developed connecting the various factions of the crowdsourcing process thus providing an overall view of the process strategy for logistics start-ups. This conceptual framework of sharing economy in emerging market can benefit the prospective suppliers and their target receivers. Particularly trust in crowdshipper plays a significant mediating role between subject factors and next generation user willingness to participate in crowdshipping services for sustainable last-mile delivery.Originality/valueThe present theoretical foundations and frameworks have been studied to get an idea of the main aspects of the field. It has the potential to provide the impetus for collaboration with the various stakeholders thus achieving the sustainable development process. The practical inference of this study is the usability in terms of the plugin application for e-retailer in emerging markets.

  • Does crowdsourcing services moderate effect on supply risk management performance in COVID-19 pandemic: evidence from India
Chandra Kant Upadhyay, Vijayshri Tewari, Vineet Tiwari
    Supply Chain Forum, 2024
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, supply chains face challenges requiring significant social distancing measures to ensure that critical goods continue to be shipped to local shops and doorsteps of consumers. In this study, an attempt is being made to understand crowdsourcing’s scope to maintain the social distancing in the hotspot areas where connectivity is imperfect. An internet-based survey using a semi-structured snowball sampling technique has been conducted and a total of 167 responses were received from Indian MSME sector (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) i.e., retail and wholesale business. A research framework has been developed considering supplier dependency, customer orientation, and systematic purchasing to measure the retail supply chain risk management (SCRM) performance and understand the moderating role of crowdsourcing on process to provide solutions that concurrently take lesser time while maintaining social distancing. The results revealed that in the pandemic situation, crowdsourcing services moderate the effect on supply risk management performance. Thus, the crowdsourcing strategy can lead to maintain social distancing in the pandemic.
  • Evaluating the Relationship Between Banking Credit and Total Deposits in the Context of National Highway Development in India
Riya Bhattacharya, Chandra Kant Upadhyay, Surajit Bag
    Vision, 2024
National Highways (NHs) are key facilitators of sustainable growth and development. NHs have a multiplier effect on overall growth, industrialization and urbanization. A key challenge is that the investment that manifests, in terms of savings, deposits and bank credit, is highly endogenous. In such a scenario, a pertinent question arises: Do NHs have an impact or a mirror effect on bank credit? We skirt the problem by investigating the impact of the NH on bank credit. We study this research question by using NHs, examining the growth of banks in the treatment districts (districts within 10 km of an NH) and the control districts (districts beyond 50 km of an NH). We adopted panel regression with fixed effects and long difference estimation to analyse the research problem. The results from the districts that are within 10 km of an NH have a positive association with bank credit and aggregate deposits. This fosters the belief that bank credit and aggregate deposits respond to the development of infrastructural projects such as NHs. In conclusion, the study investigates an empirical association between the construction of NHs during the period between 2014 and 2022 and the local financial sector. Our results are helpful for policymakers and the National Highway Authority of India in evaluating the impact of infrastructural investment on access to banks in the context of an emerging economy. Our results indicate that an NH has a positive impact on the financial sector, but there is still a long road ahead.
  • Optimization of supply chain financial (SCF) flow in COVID-19 situation: Literature review
Chandra Kant Upadhyay, Punita Bhatt, Bharti
Supply Chain Management Strategic Implementation in Manufacturing, 2024
In the past few decades, the impact of investment has emerged as a new source of finance that empowers marginalized communities through entrepreneurship. The purpose of this study is to investigate the nature of supply chain financial (SCF) flow in India and how it affects growth. This study investigates the recent growth and implications of supply chain finance in India; the study includes a methodological approach that is exploratory in nature and combines qualitative and mixed-method research methodologies. They are related to flows of goods and information, which are discussed in the logistics and supply chain management literature. To explore the financial flows associated with the supply chain, a systematic literature review process was performed using keywords, and to know the trend, Google Trend Analysis (GTA) was performed. This article provides an overview of current research on SCF flows in the COVID-19 situation. The detailed investigation and optimization of the cost of capital become obvious in this process.
  • An empirical assessment of antecedents able to attract the prospective talented workforce for information technology industry across borders
Bhartrihari Pandiya, Vijayshri Tewari, Chandra Kant Upadhyay
European Journal of International Management, 2023
In the present corporate scenario, attracting and retaining highly skilled and talented employees is one of the keys to competitive advantage. Employer branding is the latest concept which is being practised by the organisations to create an attractive brand as an employer. The review of the existing literature in the emerging area of employer branding found the antecedents capable of attracting prospective employees by their employers. A survey instrument was developed with a scale of employer branding to empirically evaluate the employer attractiveness in the Information Technology (IT) sector. The uniqueness of the research is a novel and comprehensive scale in employer branding in the IT sector which will not only help to attract the talented workforce in cross border but also retain them. The findings can be useful for policy makers in other national borders and Asian countries as they have related and somewhat similar demographic variables.
