Performances and decision framework of CNT-infused bio-based hybrid composites for lightweight smart structures Santosh Kumar, Vijay Kumar Mahakur, Durgesh Kumar Mishra, Nitish Kumar, Nagesh K. Chougule Scientific Reports, 2026 Development of lightweight structures with sustainable materials created a suitable substitute to non-renewable traditional materials due to its cost-effective, abundant availability, biodegradability, and reduced carbon emissions. However, moderate strength-stiffness and toughness of these biobased composites are not predominant for load bearing structural applications. Thus, inclusion of CNTs nanoparticles played a vital role that not only improved fracture resistance but also increased the interfacial properties with greater strength and stiffness. This study projected to develop lightweighted sustainable hybrid structures by infusing CNTs at nano level (0–6%) with banana-pineapple laminated fibers at different stacking arrangements. XRD and FTIR characteristics of CNTs showed better crystallinity with uniform dispersion and stretching mechanisms. TEM and FESEM analysis showed that CNTs nanoparticles are spherical in shape with a magnified surface interfacial area that greatly adhesive with epoxy matrix. The results analyzed that 3% CNTs infused BPBP and BBPP hybrid composites showed maximum tensile strength (229.94 MPa), flexural strength (190.78 MPa), interfacial shear strength (41.51 MPa), impact strength (52.39 kJ/m 2 ), and energy absorbing (9.95 J) properties which is higher tensile strength (36.2% & 75.4%), flexural strength (39.3% & 120%), shear strength (125% & 380%), impact strength (59.5% & 113%), and energy absorbing (41.2% & 84.6%) as compared to non-hybrid composites (BBBB & PPPP) respectively. The C-scan images, ultrasonic wave patterns, and morphology analysis also revealed that 3% CNTs infused epoxy matrix are dispersed homogeneously between the fiber layers that controlled the damages and delamination during higher penetration and impact load. Finally, in order to choose the best configuration among the prepared hybrid composite structures, a novel fuzzy strategy based on Schweizer-Sklar techniques was also executed.
Design improvements and clinical evaluation of an adjustable clubfoot splint Mahavir K. Beldar, Bharatkumar B. Ahuja, Nagesh K. Chougule, Kashinath Sahoo, Dadaso D. Mohite Scientific Reports, 2025 Clubfoot, a congenital deformity affecting 1 to 10 per 1000 live births in India, remains challenging to manage due to high relapse rates following Ponseti method treatment. Conventional foot abduction braces, though essential, often lead to poor compliance because of discomfort and restricted mobility. To address this, a lightweight adjustable clubfoot splint (ACS) is developed for infants up to six months, using a design-for-additive-manufacturing (DFAM) approach to reduce weight, enhance adjustability, and lower cost. The splint allows controlled foot positioning while permitting natural movement, aiming to improve comfort and adherence. Clinical evaluation in 33 infants, supported by computational modeling and simulations, demonstrated a 94% compliance rate and reduced relapse compared with standard braces. While adjustable splints are already available, many remain rigid, costly, and less accessible in resource-limited settings. The present work contributes a DFAM-based, low-cost, clinically validated splint, offering a practical alternative to improve treatment outcomes and long-term management of clubfoot.
Experimental investigation of the performance of compound parabolic collector (CPC) for low and medium temperature application G.H. Bargale, N.K. Chougule Energy Reports, 2023 This paper aims to investigate the performance of the CPC for low and medium temperature applications. Study shows that process industries have a substantial necessity for low-medium temperature heat like hot air, steam, hot water, and hot oil being obtained from the conventional recourses. India is blessed with a strong solar energy capacity of around 5.7 kW h/m2/day. Solar concentrators can work best to meet the needs of the major part of India’s low-medium temperature process heat. At this point, Compound Parabolic Collector (CPC) found to be one of the promising non-imaging collectors which can be used with or without tracking, which leads to the cost reduction of the system. An experimental setup was prepared using optimum values fetched from the Taguchi method. It was observed that CPC design for 100 lit capacity with this design gives rise in temperature (ΔT) of around 70 °C with average solar radiation of around 900 W/m2 during sunny days. The study shows that it would fulfill the partial requirement of the textile process and sizing industry by reducing the consumption of coal, wood, etc., which will reduce carbon dioxide gas emissions. It would indirectly support the national target of the global sustainable development goal.
A review of the application of a thermoelectric module (TEM) in solar still Anand Nadgire, Nagesh Chougule, Shivprakash Barve International Journal of Ambient Energy, 2023 A solar still is a low-cost device for the generation of freshwater. However, the yield of conventional solar still is meagre; thus, the researchers have used various active and passive methods to augment the freshwater production from a solar still. This article reports the various developments in solar stills using TEMs. TEMs are used for heating, cooling or simultaneous heating and cooling purposes or even generating electricity in solar still. Researchers have used the TEMs in solar still with evacuated tubes, parabolic collectors, heat storage materials, heat sinks, heat pipe and finned tanks. The maximum freshwater yield on TECs is eight times more than the yield with the glass. It is observed that with the use of TEGs to produce electricity and using this electricity to produce forced convection, the daily yield is increased by 14%.Abbreviations: HDH: humidification and dehumidification; PCM: phase change material; PTSS: portable thermoelectric solar still; PV: photovoltaic; SS: solar still; TEC: thermoelectric cooler; TEG: thermoelectric generator; TEM: thermoelectric moduleHighlights A solar still is a low-cost device for the generation of freshwater. The present study reviews the use of TEMs in solar still for the last two decades. The use of TEMs in solar still enhances its productivity.Solar still using TEMs are also equipped with other devices like evacuated tubes, parabolic collectors, heat storage materials, heat sinks, heat pipe and finned tank. The portable solar still using TEMs are also discussed, but their yield is low.

It includes 1) the design of an EV chassis using Python, 2) The implementation of a machine learning model to predict and find the suitable material for the chassis, and 3) CAD Customization of the chassis using Fusion 360 API in Python. 4) Structural Analysis of the chassis in Fusion 360. The mentioned methodology provides faster calculations, reduced manual errors, and a more efficient way of exploring design alternatives. The use of machine learning for material selection ensures a reliable and safe chassis. The study contributes to the advancement of EV chassis design processes by integrating automation and machine learning techniques, leading to faster and more reliable designs, and demonstrating the benefits of CAD customization.
