Identification of critical control points for fruit fly infestation in the export supply chain of Salacca zalacca cv. 'Pondoh' Chandra Kurnia Setiawan, Firginia Rosinola, Dina Wahyu Trisnawati Bio Web of Conferences, 2026 Fruit fly infestation ( Bactrocera spp .) remains a major phytosanitary challenge in tropical fruit exports. This study assessed observable fruit fly infestation incidence along the export-oriented supply chain of Salacca zalacca var. pondoh using a process-oriented approach integrating SCOR-based material flow mapping, descriptive critical control point (CCP) identification, and latent infestation observation. Fruit samples were collected at the farm level, farmer group aggregation (Sortation I), and packing house handling (Sortation II), and stored under ambient conditions for 14 days to allow infestation expression. Infestation incidence differed across supply-chain stages, with the highest occurrence observed at the farmer group level, lower incidence at the farm level, and no infestation detected in packing house samples under the applied observation protocol. These findings indicate that infestation expression varied by handling stage and highlight aggregation points as priority stages for postharvest pest risk management in export-oriented salak supply chains.
Abscisic Acid Promotes Ripening in Sapodilla (Manilkara zapota L.) Fruit after Refrigerated Storage Nafi Ananda Utama, Ananda Elmanisa Ramadhani, Indira Prabasari, Chandra Kurnia Setiawan Pertanika Journal of Tropical Agricultural Science, 2025 Sapodilla is a climacteric fruit with high marketing potential but limited export viability due to its short shelf life. During transport, the fruit is refrigerated in a semi-ripe state and is expected to be ready for consumption upon reaching consumers. This study aims to determine the physical and chemical characteristics of sapodilla fruit treated with abscisic acid after refrigerated storage. Half-ripe sapodilla fruits (n=66) were selected, washed, and stored at 10°C for 10 days. The fruits were then divided into control (n=33) and treatment (n=33) groups. Samples in the treatment group were sprayed with a 0.1% ABA solution before further storage at room temperature for 16 days. During this period, weight loss (%), firmness (N/mm²), total soluble solids (°Brix), titratable acidity (%), and reducing sugar levels (%) were observed. The Wilcoxon rank-sum test (α = 0.05) was used to analyze mean differences between groups for each parameter. Significant differences between groups emerged on the 12th day of storage at room temperature. On day 12, ABA-treated samples exhibited significantly lower firmness (0.13 ± 0.01 N/mm²) and reduced sugar levels (0.207 ± 0.074%) compared to the control (0.26 ± 0.06 N/mm² and 0.427 ± 0.040%, respectively). The titratable acidity of ABA-treated samples (3.57 ± 0.26%) was also significantly lower than that of the control (5.96 ± 0.45%). However, ABA-treated sapodilla exhibited higher total soluble solids (17.6 ± 1.53 °Brix) than the control (14.1 ± 0.58 °Brix). Similarly, vitamin C content was higher in ABA-treated samples (0.032 ± 0.002%) compared to the control (0.006 ± 0.007%). These changes suggest a synergistic relationship between ABA and ethylene. Therefore, the application of ABA can accelerate ripening in sapodilla fruit after refrigeration.
The sweet taste affects consumer preference in different cultivar of snake fruit C K Setiawan, N A Utama, R M K Sujatmiko Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science, 2025 Snake fruit is a non-climacteric fruit including many types throughout Indonesia. Diverse cultivars exert varying influences on consumer decisions. A hedonic test was conducted to ascertain consumer preferences. This study aimed to identify the most preferred snake fruit cultivars among consumers from three primary types: ‘Pondoh’, ‘Madu’, and ‘Gading’. The research consisted two phases: physicochemical analysis and hedonic assessments. The hedonic assessment was conducted through the general Labelled Magnitude Scale (gLMS). Among the three cultivars, Madu exhibited the highest TSS/TA ratio (36.20), followed by Pondoh (33.90), while Gading had the lowest (20.53). In terms of overall liking, Pondoh scored highest on the H-gLMS scale (40.1 ± 18.7 units), slightly surpassing Madu (39.2 ± 17.5 units), whereas Gading scored substantially lower (5.3 ± 10.4 units). In the hedonic test, the ‘Pondoh’ cultivar of snake fruit was the most favoured by consumers. The coefficient of determination analysis revealed that sweetness predominantly influenced consumer preferences more than other attributes.
The Influence of Arabica Coffee Varieties on Consumer Preference Nafi Ananda Utama, Chandra Kurnia Setiawan, Muhammad Yoghastya Pratama Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science, 2025 Coffee is one of the popular global commodities and is considered part of the modern lifestyle. The quality of arabica coffee’s flavor is influenced by its variety. In addition, the variety also affects the plant’s resilience, physical quality, and chemical content. Based on this, physical, sensory, and chemical quality tests were conducted to determine which Arabica coffee variety meets the quality standards. This study uses three varieties as treatments, namely Lini S-795, Sigararutang, and Kartika 2. This research is divided into three tests: a physical test on Arabica coffee, which includes the length, width, defects, and weight of 100 beans; a hedonic test to determine consumer preference scores for Arabica coffee using the general Labeled Magnitude Scale (gLMS); and a chemical test to determine the caffeine content in Arabica coffee. The research results indicated that the Lini S-795 variety excelled in physical criteria, with the most average length (9.179 ± 0.98 mm) width (6.853 ±0.59 mm) and the least defect value compared to the other varieties. This variety also received the highest sensory score compared to other varieties. In the chemical test, all three varieties met the quality standards of SNI 01-3542-2004.
1-MCP treatment indifferent to consumer favorability on Mango cv 'Gedong Gincu' (Mangifera indica L.) C K Setiawan, N A Utama, M F Rahman Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science, 2025 Mango cv ‘Gedong Gincu’ is a fruit with unique attributes but has a short shelf life after being harvested. 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) is currently employed to inhibit the ripening process of mango fruit. However, an assessment of the sensory and hedonic aspects of using 1-MCP on mango fruit is necessary to ascertain its impact on customer preference. Mango cv ‘Gedong Gincu’ and 1-MCP were prepared as main treated materials. The investigation was carried out in two phases: physicochemical testing and hedonic tests utilizing the gLMS scale. The findings indicated that the application of 1-MCP had no significant impact on the physicochemical properties of hardness, total dissolved solids (TSS), total titratable acid (TA), and TSS/TA on the final day of experiment. The assessment of panellist preference parameters revealed no differences in the findings between mango fruit cv ‘Gedong Gincu’ treated with 1-MCP and those not. This indicates that using 1-MCP did not impact panellists sensory and hedonic preferences while consuming mango fruit cv ‘Gedong Gincu’. The obtained results present a potential for using 1-MCP on mango fruit to enhance the shelf life without affecting the consumers preferences.
Impact of Storage Temperature and 1-MCP Application on the Fruit Quality and Maturity of Sapodilla ( Manilkara zapota L.) I Prabasari, N A Utama, C K Setiawan, D F Ananda, I D Kumalasari Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science, 2025 The attempts to increase sapodilla fruit’s shelf life is one of Indonesia’s main concerns. The study aimed to determine the application of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) and the low temperature to maintain the Sapodilla fruit’s quality and extend its shelf life. The research was conducted with three treatments: treatment storage at 10°C, 1-MCP treatment + storage at 10°C, and 1-MCP treatment + storage at 30°C. The results showed that the 1-MCP combined with low temperature at 10°C succeeded in maintaining the quality of Sapodilla fruit based on their level of maturity, weight loss, firmness, color, total soluble solid, titratable acidity, vitamin C, and reducing sugar. Furthermore, sapodilla’s shelf life could be extended for more than 14 days.
Development of an Integrated Home-Based Jamu Industry to Improve the Quality of Product Diversification in Yogyakarta: Case study in Kiringan, Bantul Cahyo Wisnu Rubiyanto, Idham Shafwan Hawwari, Lestari Rahayu, Diah Rina, Chandra Kurnia Setiawan, Pringgo Widyo Laksono, Riskina Juwita, Rosalia Natalia Seleky Bio Web of Conferences, 2024 This study examines the ways that Kiringan, Bantul, Yogyakarta, is creating an integrated home-based Jamu industry in order to diversify its product offerings and enhance product quality. The product and asset of home-based Jamu industry are still traditional and not diversified enough, which could result in a significant reliance on a single source of income and increase the community’s vulnerability to economic volatility. Total number of producers in this study were 25, and we asked about their knowledge and the understanding of Halal and Good Manufacturing practice (GMP) by using likert-scale. The results showed that 86.96% of the households were aware of the significance of the production staff hygiene system in herbal drink producing facilities, however, in the reality, perception of hygiene among producers is often limited to washing with their hands and water. The finding suggest that the adoption of Halal and Good Manufacturing Practices is critical to the long-term viability of Jamu producers in Kiringan Village. Also, modernizing traditional techniques, expanding market distribution, and promoting sustainable cultivation practice may boost the scalability and quality of Jamu products. This all-encompassing approach guarantees not only ensure the sustainable growth of the Jamu industry but also highlights its potential as a valuable community resource.
Low concentration 1-MCP limit ripening process of mango cv. 'gedong gincu' during low temperature storage C K Setiawan, K F Sari, N A Utama Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science, 2024 Mango fruit still ripens and senesces after harvest. The presence of ethylene will shorten the shelf life of mangoes during long transportation processes. The purpose of this research is to find out how long the ‘gedong gincu’ mango (Mangifera indica L.) can be kept at 15°C after being treated with 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP). This study conducted experiments in the lab using a completely randomized approach with a single factor that included treatment with and without 500 ppb 1-MCP. Both was kept at 15°C for both sessions. Weight, color, hardness, total dissolved solids, total titrated acid, and chilling injury score were measured in this study. Analysis of data will be conducted using a t-test at α = 5% using Microsoft Analysis Toolpak. The study found that adding 1-MCP to mango cv ‘gedong gincu’ had a significant effect (p<0.05) on its color change, hardness, total titrated acidity, and chilling injury score during storage at low temperatures. This suggests that 1-MCP may be able to delay the ripening process by ethylene and extend the shelf life of ‘gedong gincu’ mangoes when stored at 15°C, thereby contributing largely to food loss prevention.
