  • Improving Students' Speaking Skills in Engineering Colleges Through Task-Based Language Teaching
Rambabu Basireddi, Sridevi Dasam, Venkata Surya Seshagiri Anumula, Jayasri Suma. V, Ramesh Pettela, et al.
Theory and Practice in Language Studies, 2025
This paper explains the effectiveness of TBLT in enhancing the speaking skills of engineering undergraduates in select colleges in the East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. In the contemporary educational landscape, particularly in Engineering Institutions, strong communication skills are essential for students' professional success. However, Traditional language Teaching Methods often fall short of addressing the practical communication needs of students. TBLT, with its focus on real-world Tasks and communicative competence, offers a promising alternative. The findings reveal that students in the TBLT group improved significantly in their speaking abilities compared to those in the control group, who were taught using traditional techniques. The tasks for the TBLT (Task-Based Language Teaching) sessions were designed to closely align with students’ real-life communication needs, including group discussions, presentations, and interviews. This alignment made the learning process more relevant, practical, and engaging. Furthermore, the TBLT approach fostered a collaborative learning environment, which enhanced students' confidence and reduced anxiety about speaking skills.
  • An Empirical Study on Enhancing Interview Skills Through Activity Based Learning at Graduation Level
Srilakshmi Movva, Rambabu Basireddi, Siva Nagaiah Bolleddu, Bhuvaneswari Pagidipati, Kotagiri Suvarna Lakshmi, et al.
Theory and Practice in Language Studies, 2024
This paper focuses on ‘Activity Based Learning’ (ABL) that helps students acquire the interview skills at graduation level. The main aim of this quantitative study was to see how Activity Based Learning (ABL) helped low and high achievers in Bachelors of Technology (B. Tech.) course to improve their interview skills. For the research, 40 students were chosen at random from III B. Tech. classes and were divided into experimental and control groups (20 students + 20 students). To measure the extent of interview performance among the participants an achievement test was devised and was given twice, once as a pre-test and once as a post-test. Primarily, the pre-test was used to show that with respect to pervious knowledge of interview skills, both the groups were similar. Later, Activity Based Language Teaching method of instruction to the experimental group and traditional language teaching method of instruction to the controlled group were adopted. The post-test was given at the conclusion to assess the students’ progress. The researchers employed the independent sample t-test to see if mean scores’ difference between the groups was significant at the 0.05 level. In the post test, the experimental group outscored the control group demonstrating that ABL is an effective approach in improving students’ interview skills. The results suggest that the ABL method significantly develops and improves the interview skills of students when used in the classroom.

    Journal of Critical Reviews, 2020
Dalit women are awfully susceptible to violence mainly by the people from higher strata. Due to patriarchal status it effectively legitimizes upper caste men’s exercise power and force over women from lower strata. Exercise of power to dominate women is explicitly manifested in their attacks on Dalit women. The paper showcases not only the weaker side of the women but it also focuses about the upsurge from the women.
  • Raising the voice against the atrocities: A critical study of P Sivakami's taming of women
Yash Raj, Siva Nagaiah Bolleddu, P. Kumar, K. Aravind
    Journal of Critical Reviews, 2020
Since time immemorial, Dalits are subjugated and dominated at the hands of upper caste people. They are deprived of all the basic facilities and above all they are not given equal space in the society which they deserve. They are ostracized and pushed to the periphery of the society because of their belongingness to the lower strata. The condition of the Dalit women is even more pathetic and one needs to lay emphasis on how they survive and lead their lives in these horrible circumstances. But in spite of that second sex tries to resist and fight against the atrocities which are the focal point of the paper.

Sudha Murty writes both in English and Kannada. The present story “Three Thousand Stitches” is centered around the miserable lives of women struck in the practice of a social evil called devadasi system and prostitution. The short story further throws light on how education would be a key instrument in the life of those devadasi women which amplified for their liberation and empowerment.
  • Role of education for the emancipation and the empowerment of dalits in India
Yash Raj, Siva Nagaiah Bolleddu, P. Kumar, K. Aravind
    Journal of Critical Reviews, 2020
School and college is a place where young minds are nurtured and are allowed to understand the values of life by teaching them the different aspects of the same such as honesty, discipline, togetherness, equality, respectability etc. which are the fundamental issues of one’s life. They learn new things about the world and get to familiarize themselves with various worldly affairs. But what will happen when school and college differentiate among the students on the grounds of caste and creed. Scenario for Dalits in the Indian edification system was pitiable. Children from lower strata were forced to take a seat in the open-air, whereas those who belong from upper castes were imparted inside the classrooms. Tutors used to prevent themselves from touching children from lower strata. They used to fling wicker canes on them from the distance hence making Dalits realize that they are polluted, hence instilling sense of alienation in the young minds. Study also shows that Dalits since time immemorial are not allowed to avail the facility of education. Although they went to school and colleges but they were denied the fundamental rights implicitly through different devious means.
