  • FRACTAL-BASED UWB-MIMO ANTENNA WITH RECONFIGURABLE BAND-NOTCHING CHARACTERISTICS

    A multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna-deploying fractal structure is presented for ultra-wide band (UWB) applications. Furthermore, one band notch (WLAN) is introduced on the radiating patch with a PIN diode to achieve reconfigurability. The antenna consists of two planar fractal elements on one side of the substrate along with the microstrip-fed line. The grounds of these elements are connected via a tiny strip on the other side to form a single ground. To reconfigure the notch, the PIN diode acts as a switch. When the diode is turned off, the antenna's impedance bandwidth exceeds 3.1-10.6 GHz, and the WLAN spectrum (5.15-5.725 GHz) is notched. The performance of the antenna is investigated by examining the reflection coefficients of the two ports. There are further measurements of antenna gain, VSWR, envelope correlation coefficients (ECC), and diversity gain (DG).

    A UWB (Ultra-Wideband) antenna with asymmetric coplanar strip-ACS feed and band-notched characteristics with compactness is given. The suggested UWB antenna contains P-shaped radiator. The proposed P-shaped radiator is providing impedance bandwidth from 3.34GHz to 14.36GHz with notching characteristics at WLAN from 5.08GHz to 5.66GHz. The size of the antenna is 7 × 18 mm2. For the frequency range of 5.08GHz to 5.66GHz, the suggested UWB antenna is with a virtually omnidirectional radiation pattern and band notching features. The antenna dimensions are minimised and it is given as a uniplanar construction due to the employment of ACS feeding techniques.

    In this work, a diversity antenna with a high level of isolation is presented in this paper. To make the antenna compact, the radiating parts are arranged on opposing sides of the substrate. The isolation between the ports is sufficient for the use of a MIMO system, which is achieved through the orthogonal positioning of radiating elements. Wideband and narrowband antennas are placed on opposite sides of the substrate. The suggested monopole antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 3.1 GHz to 14.9 GHz, whereas the rectangular narrowband antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 5.4 GHz to 5.62 GHz. More than 16 dB of isolation exists between the two ports. The proposed antenna has a maximum gain of 2.9 dB. The diversity nature of the proposed MIMO antenna is studied in terms of Envelope Correlation Coefficient (ECC), Diversity Gain (DG), and Total Active Reflection Coefficient (TARC).
  • Compact Textile MIMO Antenna with Reconfigurable Dual Band Notching Characteristics for UWB Applications

    A compact textile MIMO antenna is presented with dual band notching characteristics for UWB applications. The proposed MIMO antenna consists of two radiating monopole elements placed orthogonal to each other with inverted U-shaped slot and U-shaped slot for dual band dispensing. The orthogonal placement of radiating elements provides sufficient amount of isolation between the two input ports and isolation of less than −22dB is achieved for entire range of frequency operation. A total volume of 20mm x 32mm x 1mm is occupied by total MIMO antenna system. Polarization diversity is obtained because of the orthogonal placement of radiating elements. By using PIN diode placed in the slots provided for notching characteristics, reconfigurable nature of band notches can be obtained The envelope correlation coefficient is less than 0.01 between the two monopoles. The suggested antenna is considered jeans cloth as substrate with dielectric constant of 1.67 and it has impedance bandwidth from 3.38GHz to 12.78GHz with two notch bands. One notch band is from 5.12GHz to 5.5GHz covering WLAN band and another notch band is from 7.98GHz to 11.4GHz covering X-band. Because of the broad bandwidth nature, the monopole radiators remain matched at the required band when upon the body.
  • LTE/Wlan band rejection MIMO antenna with isolation enhancement for UWB applications

    In this study, the multiple-in multiple-out (MIMO) antenna is proposed with two elements. Because of the use of a flower-shaped patch without any further impedance matching techniques, the impedance bandwidth is achievedf rom 0.74 to 10.12 GHz. The proposed antenna is fabricated on FR4 glass epoxy material, and the size of the antenna is 41.8 × 72 mm2 (about 0.103λ0 × 0.17λ0 ). By using two slots on the patch, two band notches have been achieved. The inverted U-shaped slot is for the lower band notch, and the novel hook-shaped slot is for the upper band notch. By keeping the two radiators perpendicular to each other, a sufficient amount of isolation is achieved. The isolation is less than -15 dB for the entire impedance bandwidth. The results of the MIMO antenna using simulations such as return loss and isolation are also verified experimentally in acceptable range only.
  • Compact asymmetric coplanar strip fed mimo antenna with band dispension characteristics for uwb applications

    A MIMO antenna with ACS-asymmetric coplanar strip feeding technique with compact size for UWB applications of band-notched features is presented. The proposed MIMO antenna contains two orthogonally placed rectangular-shaped radiating elements. The orthogonal mechanism of placement of radiating elements provides a good amount of isolation from 3.09GHz to 11.13GHz. The size of the antenna is 27× 27mm2. The isolation is more than 17 dB for most of the UWB range. The proposed MIMO antenna represents nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern and low value of envelope correlation coefficient. Because of the usage of ACS feeding techniques, the antenna size is reduced, and it is a uniplanar structure. The diversity performance of the MIMO antenna is explained in terms of ECCEnvelope Correlation Coefficient, DG-Diversity Gain, and TARC-Total Active Reflection coefficient.
