  • Effect of GA based PID controller in bidirectional converter
    S. Satish Kumar, K. Bharathi, S. B. Mohan, T. Suresh Balakrishnan, J. Anish Kumar, M. Sasi Kumar
International Journal of Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2024
The bi-directional direct current to direct current (DC-DC) converter plays a crucial role in applications involving photovoltaic (PV)-based micro grids. These PV-based hybrid systems have become imperative to ensure uninterrupted power supply and meet local power demands. Selecting the right controller for this converter presents a significant challenge. Traditional proportional integral derivative (PID) controllers yield suboptimal efficiency due to their high delay and settling times. This issue can be overcome by implementing a PID controller based on genetic algorithms (GA). An interconnected grid system is employed to regulate the DC connection voltage across various load conditions, with PV serving as the means to sustain electricity generation. Numerous operational modes tailored to demand are explored, and control techniques are used to maintain the desired DC link voltage level, ultimately enhancing the efficiency of both the PV system and the bidirectional converter in on-grid configurations.

5th International Conference on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Iconstem 2019, 2019
The main aim of this paper is to generate power in remote areas with the help of PV based stand alone system using lesser number of converter stages. Grid connected PV system is the growing technology in recent electrical network. But it cannot be installed in all the places where it is very difficult to place grids. Therefore standalone PV systems are used in that place. The existing system uses more number of converter stages. This will result in less efficiency. So the proposed system with less number of converter stages is explained in this paper. It also contains dual converter input with converter transformer with full bridge inverter. The proposed system has high maximum power point tracking from solar and high level control on battery by constant voltage at the load side. The circuit will be simulated using MATLAB Simulink.

5th International Conference on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Iconstem 2019, 2019
In this research work, Independent task of a turbine with wind energy system generating power on variable load and fluctuated wind is considered for investigation. Continuously, the responsive reactive power request makes it even more testing because of the constraint of operating capacity of the system. A Remote Area Power (RAP) Supply system consist of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator, energy storage devices, a dump load and a mains load is considered. The fundamental point of this paper is a plan and build up a little scale wind vitality framework for remote region control supply framework (RAP) which is equipped for accomplishing successful vitality the board with mixture vitality stockpiling framework, Good real and reactive power control, There is p-f and q-v Control strategy, Effective power utilization from wind turbine, Increased lifetime of battery, With the help of battery, fuel cell, load, and capacitors or condenser.
  • Fuzzy based feed forward control for voltage compensation of smart grid using bidirectional intelligent semiconductor transformer and PV cell
    K. Bharathi, M. Sasikumar
2016 2nd International Conference on Science Technology Engineering and Management Iconstem 2016, 2016
This paper proposes the solid state transformer which has been controlled by the fuzzy controller. The proposed solid state transformer is designed to reduce the large voltage deviation on the dc bus of the solid-state transformer (SST) when the load suddenly changes. Fuzzy logic controller can effectively reduce the voltage deviation, it can be easily modified, robust, and control many inputs and outputs. However in existing system proportional-integral (PI) control technique is used to clear error signal and produce gate signal to the power semiconductor switches. The experimental results in a 2-kW SST prototype are provided to verify the proposed fuzzy logic control schemes and show the superior performances. The aim of this paper is to introduce a high efficiency fuzzy based feed forward control for solid state transformer. The proposed solid state transformer is modeled and verified through simulation by using MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Proceedings Ncet Nres EM 2014 2nd IEEE National Conference on Emerging Trends in New and Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Management, 2015
A two-stage street lighting system is presented, where the front stage is a single-stage AC/DC converter based on the interleaved sepic circuit and flyback converter. Since the interleaved sepic circuit and flyback converter share a switching device, the costs of the system can be reduced, the efficiency, reliability can be improved and ripple current get reduced. At the same time, the switch operates in quasi-resonant state, which reduces the switching losses and enhances the efficiency. The second stage is a light-emitting diode constant current circuit, which achieves the constant current control by adopting boost circuit in peak current control mode.
