This study attempts to provide insights on phytocompounds and antioxidant efficacies of A. pubescens. The study primarily focused on estimation of phenolic content, flavonoid content and antioxidant capacity of different extracts of stem, leaf and inflorescence comparing with standard antioxidants. The results indicated that the amount of phenolics in different plant parts varied from 7.56 to 48.5 mg TAE/g and the amount of flavonoids varied from 0.23 to 0.81 mg QE/g. Among different plant parts, ethanol extract of inflorescence possessed highest amount of phenolics, while aqueous extract of leaf had highest amount of flavonoids as compared to stem. The antioxidant capability of the species as verified by diverse antioxidant assays varied with different plant parts as well as with different solvents used for extraction. Remarkably, all the tested extracts validated a significant free radical scavenging action with the water and ethanol extracts of leaf and inflorescence in most of the test methods. Therefore, water and ethanol were determined to be the most effective solvent systems for extracting antioxidants. The correlation coefficient of phenolics and flavonoids with antioxidant efficacy endorsed the contribution of the phytocompounds to the antioxidant potential. These findings signify that the extracts of A. pubescens possess effective antioxidant properties and can be used to prevent the damage caused by free radicals.

Aqueous extracts of Leea crispa used for producing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with the supplementation of the external capping substance, were determined by UV-Visible spectroscopy. The synthesized nanoparticles were examined for their antituberculosis and anticancer activities. The presence of phytoconstituents available for reducing silver ions and to form the AgNPs was confirmed using FTIR analysis. The XRD and TEM examination validated the AgNPs’ spherical particle shape and size of 15 to 85 nm and their face-centered cubic crystal form. Additionally, the FTIR spectrum revealed variation in the band values in the range 1384.0 to 3419.4 cm-1, respectively, and the EDX noted a strong band at 3 keV induced the presence of metallic silver. The AgNPs exhibited comparatively potential anti-tuberculosis activity (0.2 to 100 µg/mL) respectively. Alternatively, various doses of AgNPs, 12.5 to 400 µg/mL documented considerable activity towards the human breast cancer cell lines. The percentage of cell viability increased at 12.5g/mL and declined at 400 ng/mL concentrations of AgNPs solution. The AgNPs synthesized from L. crispa exhibited potential activity against life-threatening tuberculosis and cancer cells.

Current Research in Green and Sustainable Chemistry, 2024
In the rapidly expanding field of nanoscience and research, AgNPs and their diverse by-products have been acknowledged as having a green approach. Fruit extract of Limonia acidissima is capable of bio-reducing AgNO3 and stabilizing AgNPs. AgNPs distinctive absorption peak at 417 nm at pH 8 was visible on the UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The fruit extract contained bioactive chemicals, which may be the cause of the AgNPs bio-capping and stabilizing properties, according to Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Using an X-ray diffractometer (XRD) examination, the AgNPs solid crystalline nature and size of 29.05 nm were investigated. Lastly, AFM and HR-TEM studies verified the AgNPs surface morphology, particularly their size and form. The DPPH assay method was used to measure the AgNPs capacity for radical scavenging. As compared to normal ascorbic acid and fruit extract (control), the AgNPs produced from the fruit extract demonstrated good antioxidant effectiveness. To evaluate the antibacterial activity of the AgNPs sample, it was additionally evaluated against E. coli, S. typhi, V. cholera, and S. aureus. With the greatest zone of inhibition and thus the strongest antibacterial activity, S. aureus (12.03 ± 0.043 mm) was the organism that displayed it. On the other hand, the least active strain was V. cholera (9.09 ± 0.013 mm). The data indicates that bio-fabricated silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) exhibited dose-dependent inhibitory efficacy together with a notable zone of inhibition. Additionally, S. aureus was shown to be more effective than V. cholera. Future health and pharmaceutical fields may benefit from the biocompatible method of separating AgNPs from L. acidissima fruit extract.

Currently, we synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from the aqueous fruit extract of Carissa carandas L. and evaluated their antioxidant and antibacterial properties. The UV-visible spectra showed a characteristic absorption peak at 412 nm. The Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy exhibits intense peaks at 3430.23cm-1 and 1625.67cm-1 which indicates the involvement of flavonoids and other functional groups in the biosynthesis, capping, and stabilization of AgNPs. From XRD analysis, the average size of AgNPs was estimated to be 45nm. The biogenic AgNPs were spherical in shape and average size range between 10 to 95nm confirmed by HR-TEM analysis. The fabricated AgNPs by fruit extract were monitored for antioxidant activity using DPPH method. The fruit extract of AgNPs (IC50= 946.22μg/ml) had the highest antioxidant activity against standard ascorbic acid. The antibacterial activity was done using Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacterial strains. It was found from the results that the bacterial strain S. aureus had the highest antibacterial activity when compared to E. coli and aqueous fruit extract. Thus, the present study exhibits synergistic antioxidant and antibacterial activity which may explore in future clinical treatment.

Introduction Cancer disease is known due to its unregulated proliferation of cells that have evolved from the body’s regular cells. The disease develops as a result of epigenetic and genetic modifications, tumor suppressor gene inactivation, and oncogene activation. The present work describes an environmentally benign approach for the synthesis of manganese oxide nanoparticles (MnO2 NPs) using Gmelina arborea fruit extract (GAE) in an aqueous medium. Methods The study evaluated the formation of MnO2 NPs and their anticancer efficacy against MCF-7 breast cancer cell line. Results The formation of MnO2 NPs was confirmed through powder X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). The crystalline nature of as-prepared MnO2 NPs was evident from XRD pattern. The morphology of the material was studied using SEM analysis, which suggested a rod-like nature with an average diameter of 50 nm. Further, the TEM and HR-TEM images confirmed the rod shape of the as-prepared MnO2 NPs with an interplanar distance of 0.271 nm. In addition, the concentric rings from selected area electron diffraction (SAED) analysis show the crystalline nature of the as-prepared material, which further supports the obtained XRD pattern. The anticancer efficacy of MnO2 NPs was evaluated against MCF-7 breast cancer cell line, which showed up to 96% inhibition of the cells at 400 µg/mL concentration. Conclusion Bio-conjugation of MnO2 NPs can provide enough scope for the therapeutic use of Gmelina arborea, assuming appropriate mechanistic evaluations are conducted.
