A Low-Profile Compact Micro Strip Circularly Polarized Antenna with Superstrate for 5G Wireless Local Area Network and X-Band Application Kiran Dasari, Swetha Ravikanti, Preeti Khanwalkar, Anitha Suresh, Neeraja Bandi, Anjaneyulu Lokam Engineering Technology and Applied Science Research, 2025 This research paper introduces a novel compact Circularly Polarized (CP) antenna tailored for 5G Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and X-band applications. The antenna design includes a circular patch, minimized ground, and a superstrate. Four V-shaped slits are embedded along the boundary of the circular patch, strategically positioned to generate circular polarization operating across multiple frequency bands. The antenna resonates in the ranges between 4.9 GHz and 5.6 GHz, 7.74 GHz and 8 GHz, and 10.9 GHz and 11.2 GHz. The design's effectiveness is verified through a compact antenna with dimensions of 0.636 λ0 × 0.636 λ0 × 0.21 λ0. The results demonstrate 10-dB impedance bandwidths of 13.2%, 3.16%, and 2.7% for 4.9-5.6 GHz, 7.74-8 GHz, and 10.9-11.2 GHz, respectively. In addition, the findings revealed gains of 8 dBi, 6.89 dBi, and 8 dBi at resonant frequencies of 5.3 GHz, 7.9 GHz, and 11.1 GHz, respectively. With a radiation efficiency exceeding 97% across all resonant frequencies, the addition of a superstrate enhances gain by 3 dBi. Comparison between measured and simulated results confirms the accuracy of the proposed design. The triple-band CP compact antenna, augmented by a superstrate, showcases promising characteristics for 5G WLAN and X-band applications.
Hybrid Fire Hawk With Successive Convex Approximation for Sum Rate Maximization Problem in Double IRS-Assisted Multi-User MIMO mmWave Systems Ragodaya Deepthi Kadiyala, Anjaneyulu Lokam, Chayan Bhar Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies, 2025 A promising technique for improving spectral efficiency in wireless communication is Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS). However, because of significant path loss and obstructions, a single IRS is not enough to provide adequate coverage and beamforming gain in millimeter‐wave (mmWave) networks. To overcome these limitations, this paper investigates the impact of a dual‐IRS‐assisted multi‐user MIMO mmWave system, which enables cooperative passive beamforming to enhance the effective channel gain and extend coverage in non‐line‐of‐sight (NLoS) environments. The proposed approach optimizes phase shift design at the IRSs and digital precoding at the transmitter by formulating a weighted sum rate maximization issue. To effectively solve the precoding and phase shift design problem, a hybrid metaheuristic optimization framework that combines Bernstein‐Levy Search Differential Evolution (BL‐SDE), Hybrid Aquila with Fire Hawk (HAOFH) optimization, and Double Stochastic Successive Convex Approximation (DSSCA) is generated. The hybrid Aquila optimizer specifically solves the digital precoding matrix design challenge, while the Fire Hawk optimizer solves the analog phase shift problem. Throughput maximization is a critical indicator for assessing IRS‐assisted mmWave MIMO systems, and its direct impact on network efficiency and user experience is the driving force for its adoption as the performance metric. According to simulation results, the suggested dual‐IRS system outperforms traditional single‐IRS and non‐IRS‐assisted schemes in terms of spectral efficiency, sum rate, bit error rate, and mean square error. These findings support the efficiency of the dual‐IRS framework in addressing mmWave channel defects and promoting next‐generation wireless communication.
Circularly Polarized MIMO Antenna System for Millimeter Wave 5G Applications Using Characteristic Mode Theory Sumon Modak, Umar Farooq, Anajaneyulu Lokam International Journal of Communication Systems, 2025 This study introduces a quad‐port multi‐input multi‐output antenna design specifically suited for fifth‐generation wireless technology. The antenna geometry is characterized by a flower‐shaped configuration, featuring five petals complemented by a circular slot, positioned in the ground plane to improve operational bandwidth. The effective realization of wide‐band characteristics has been studied utilizing the analysis of characteristic modes. The design antenna demonstrates simulated performance parameters that cover the millimeter‐wave frequency band from 25.6 to 32.4 GHz, delivering a maximum gain of 6.1 dBi and ensuring minimum port isolation of > 15 dB across all ports. In addition, a circular stub is purposefully positioned over the slot to facilitate circular polarization radiation behavior at 26.3 GHz, exhibiting an axial ratio bandwidth of 0.5 GHz (26–26.5 GHz). Further, the proposed antenna design is subjected to validation encompassing diversity metrics. The proposed antenna structure is successfully fabricated, and its performance is experimentally validated. A comprehensive comparative analysis is then conducted to evaluate its alignment with the simulated results.
