IEEE Internet of Things Journal, 2024
The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) combines several smart devices which communicate continuously with each other via the Internet, to reshape the traditional industrial process and to enable faster production and optimize processes, by monitoring machine status, environment, and data management from the crowdsourced industrial devices. Industry 4.0 is accelerated with modern computing platforms and communication technologies. The storage and data movement over the network is often exposed to many security and efficiency challenges due to the interconnections of millions of smart devices across the globe and the fact that these smart/constrained devices have limited power. The cryptographic algorithms provide a solution for the privacy concerns in the IIoT network in terms of authentication and data integrity to data transmission across the network. However, the traditional cryptographic approaches are complex in nature require high computational costs and are time consuming. Hence, dedicated cost-effective lightweight and cryptographic algorithms are in high demand and are essential. This article intends to develop a new lightweight and secure aggregate signcryption scheme for crowdsourced industrial data using certificateless cryptography. This scheme effectively reduces computational cost and time consumption. In addition, this scheme avoids the key-escrow problem and achieves stronger security properties. Finally, we evaluate our pairing-free CL-based aggregate signcryption scheme’s performance and will compare results with recent state-of-the-art schemes.

Steganography is a tool that allowed an information to transmit through revealing secret data in enormously growing network. The existing methods has limitations like performance and security problems. In this research, proposed a Canonical Huffman Coding (CHC) - Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) for image steganography. The images used in the research are Lena, pepper, barbarra and airplane. The images are pre-processed through image acquisition, filtering and histogram shifting. Then, the images are steganographic by proposed CHC-DWT method. Performance of proposed technique is analysed by performance by Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), Normalized Coefficient (NC) and Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM). Proposed algorithm obtained PSNR 54.09 dB in Lena image, PSNR 53.67 dB in Pepper image, PSNR 54.37 dB in Barbarra image and PSNR 53.72 dB in Airplane image which is effecient than existing algorithms like Quick Response Method (QRM), Ballot Transform (Bat) and hybrid Lempel Ziv Welch (LZW) and Genetic Algorithms (GA)
  • A New Pairing-Free Certificateless Signcryption Scheme
Journal of Scientific and Industrial Research, 2022
Signcryption is a cryptographic primitive which provides unforgeability and confidentiality for digital communications. Many signcryption schemes have been constructed in the literature for secure communication between smart objects. But, many of these existing schemes are not secure and inefficient for resource constrained applications like WSNs, Mobile computing, VANETs and IoT applications. To enrich the security and efficiency issues, in this paper, we propose a new signcryption scheme in certificateless based framework and prove its security under the CDHP and ECDLP assumptions. The efficiency analysis indicates that our scheme is more efficient than other existing signcryption schemes and is well suitable for resource-constrained applications.

Public Key Cryptosystem (PKC) completely relies under the assumption that user’s private key is absolutely secure. Exposure of private key may lead to disastrous situations in the communication network. To diminish the damage of private key exposure in PKC, key-insulation mechanism was introduced. In key-insulated cryptosystems, a user can update his private key with the help of a physically secure device from time to time. Identity-based cryptosystem alleviates the heavy certificate management problems in traditional PKC. Recently, many Identity-based key insulated signature schemes have been proposed in literature; however, most of the Identity-based schemes are designed based on the expensive bilinear pairing operation over elliptic curves. Due to the heavy computational cost of a pairing, the pairing based schemes are less efficient in practice. In order to improve the computational and communicational efficiency and to resist the problem of private key exposure in Identity-based signature schemes, we present a pairing-free key insulated signature scheme in identity based setting. We show that this scheme is unforgeable and achieves strong key insulation property with secure key updates, under the hardness of the Elliptic Curve Discrete Logarithm Problem (ECDLP). The performance analysis shows that our scheme is more efficient than the existing schemes.

Key insulated mechanism mitigates the potential damages caused by secret signing key exposure in public key signature schemes. To minimize the impact of secret key exposure in group-oriented applications, in this paper, we propose a novel Pairing-free Identity-based Key-insulated Multi Signature (PF-IDKIMS) scheme. The strong key insulated security of our PF-IDKIMS primitive is reduced to the classical elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem in random oracle model. To the best of our knowledge, the proposed scheme is the first multi signature scheme without pairings in identity based framework dealing with key exposure problems by employing key insulation mechanism.
