Multilevel child protection in migrant-sending communities: Applying the SCII framework in rural Indonesia Maemunah Maemunah, Sri Rejeki, Hilman Syahrial Haq, Abdul Sakban Multidisciplinary Science Journal, 2026 International labor migration is a pivotal livelihood strategy for rural Indonesian households, particularly in East Lombok, where poverty and limited employment opportunities drive a high rate of overseas labor. However, this economic strategy often results in adverse social consequences for the children left behind, including emotional neglect, inconsistent caregiving, and educational disruption. This study applies the Societal, Community, Institutional, and Individual (SCII) framework to examine child protection mechanisms within migrant-sending communities in East Lombok. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observations, and document analysis involving children, caregivers, community actors, educators, and institutional stakeholders. The findings reveal that while caregivers—often elderly or economically disadvantaged—struggle to meet children’s developmental needs, informal community actors such as religious leaders and teachers offer fragmented protection in the absence of institutional coordination. At the institutional level, gaps in policy implementation, monitoring, and inter-agency collaboration severely hinder comprehensive protection. Meanwhile, societal norms tend to normalize parental migration and obscure its detrimental impact on child welfare. The study underscores the importance of context-sensitive, multilevel strategies that integrate formal legal mechanisms with local cultural practices and community capacities. By empirically adapting the SCII framework to a rural Southeast Asian setting, this research advances both theoretical understanding and practical policy development. It highlights the need to reframe child protection from a sectoral to a systemic issue, advocating for cross-level coordination among formal institutions and informal social actors. The study contributes to global discourses on transnational family dynamics by providing a nuanced model that captures the complexity of child protection in migration-prone regions. It offers actionable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and scholars seeking to bridge the gap between legal frameworks and the lived realities of left-behind children in rural Indonesia and similar contexts.
Legal Protection System for Children Left Behind by Indonesian Migrant Workers: A Multilevel SCII Strategy Approach Maemunah Maemunah, Sri Rejeki, Hilman Syahrial Haq, Abdul Sakban Jurnal Ius Kajian Hukum Dan Keadilan, 2025 This study investigates the systemic neglect experienced by children of Indonesian migrant workers through the lens of the SCII (Societal, Community, Institutional, Individual) strategy. Despite the economic benefits of labor migration, an estimated 11,732 children in East Lombok remain in vulnerable caregiving arrangements, often overseen by elderly or extended family members. Using an empirical juridical method, data were collected from March to July 2025 through semi-structured interviews, field observations, and document analyses involving seven key informants, including government officials, caregivers, and child protection advocates. The findings reveal a 70% gap between national child protection mandates and local enforcement. For example, only two of ten migrant-sending villages possess local regulations addressing the welfare of left-behind children. Cultural norms such as begawé (communal work) and saling jaga (mutual care) create informal safety nets but also obscure neglect and discourage reporting due to respect for kinship hierarchies. Institutional actors such as schools and health centers remain underutilized; 80% of teachers interviewed lacked standard procedures to identify or report neglect cases. The study highlights SCII’s potential to integrate formal legal mandates with community-based practices and concludes that a pluralistic, multilevel, and context-sensitive protection model is essential to ensure accountability and sustainability in safeguarding migrant workers’ children.
Integration of anti-corruption education with the nation’s personality to foster anti-corruption attitudes Abdul Sakban, Dasim Budimansyah, Cecep Darmawan, Syaifullah Syaifullah Multidisciplinary Science Journal, 2025 The national personality is built to form the character and attitude of good citizens. However, the personality of students experiences a character crisis, and the moral crisis is influenced by the management of character education that is not optimal. The purpose of this study is a case study to analyze the integration of anti-corruption education with the national personality in order to foster an anti-corruption attitude. This study uses a case study approach; the informants involved consisted of seven lecturers teaching anti-corruption education courses. Data collection methods include observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The data analysis process includes organizing data, reviewing records, describing and classifying information, interpreting findings, and presenting and visualizing results. Our research findings show that the integration of anti-corruption education with the national personality can foster an anti-corruption attitude in students so that students have anti-corruption attitudes such as honesty, responsibility, simplicity, freedom without interference from anyone, integrity in becoming a leader, and morality in deciding everything. The integration of anti-corruption education is one model for improving anti-corruption character education in universities that can educate and internalize anti-corruption attitudes and movements. The implications of this study can provide improvements to educational policies in educating and teaching students to have strong soft skills, integrity, and a simple life, as well as an anti-corruption attitude. Thus, it can be concluded that the integration of anti-corruption education with national personality is an innovation in developing character education in universities that have a national personality to foster an anti-corruption attitude.
The impact of Google Classroom to increase students’ information literacy Citra Ayu Dewi, Muhali Muhali, Yeti Kurniasih, Diah Lukitasari, Abdul Sakban International Journal of Evaluation and Research in Education, 2022 Information literacy at the higher education level is very important because it tends to be problematic in fostering students' critical thinking skills, including awareness, collection, understanding, analysis, synthesis, and the use of information and their attitudes to the treatment of information at the university level. This study examined the effects of the online learning Google Classroom in enhancing information literacy among students. This study observed a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design. This research involved 65 students from the Chemistry Course under the Biochemistry Program. The instrument used to assess students’ information literacy consist of fair set of multiple-choice questions. The test was found to be very valid at 4.22% and highly reliable at an alpha level of 0.86. The findings of this research showed that the information literacy of students improved before and after their learning exposure using Google Classroom based on the descriptive and inferential statistics. Moreover, the students' attitude towards the online platform shows that they are more willing to learn using Google Classroom than the non-online or conventional learning platforms. Therefore, applying Google Classroom in online learning is effectively boost students’ information literacy.
The role of Indonesian National Cyber Bureau in monitoring mining business companies A Sakban, Sahrul, A Kasmawati, H Tahir Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science, 2020 Abstract New innovations in computer systems were created aiming to provide convenience for its users, but unfortunately they are often followed by threats that surround them. The Company’s computer security system can not control the security of every company data. Because information technology attacks have impact on consumer information management and corporate marketing activities, it is necessary to have an institution or business supervisory body for mining company to deal with corporate cybercrime. Data collection uses some methods including observation and document analysis. The data sources used are primary, secondary and tertiary. There are four stages of data analysis, namely data collection, processing, verification, and conclusions. The results indicated that data security of mining companies is critically required to protect company assets such as natural and human resources from the threats of internet criminals. The role of Indonesian National Cyber Bureau is to prevent the occurrence of crimes on the internet through the cycle of supervision formining business, and mining companies should have a robust computer software system.
