How is Quality in Homecare Services Created? A Qualitative Study of Health Professional Perspectives Suprapto Suprapto, Sarifudin Andi Latif, Dewi Nurhanifah, Muh Yunus, Lumastari Ajeng Wijayanti Kemas, 2025 Nursing services in home healthcare are becoming increasingly important as the number of patients requiring long-term care and post-inpatient care increases. The standard of nursing care delivered at home is crucial for the well-being of both patients and their families. This study investigates how health professionals perceive the creation of quality nursing services in home healthcare. Methodology: This study uses a qualitative approach with an in-depth interview method. Ten health professionals, including nurses, doctors, and home health care managers, were selected as participants through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis methods to identify relevant themes and subthemes. Results: The results show that the quality of nursing services at home is created through several key factors: competency and training of nurses, effective communication between health teams, involvement of families in care, availability of resources, and clear management and policy support. Nurse competence and training are considered the most crucial factors affecting service quality. In addition, good communication between healthcare professionals and patients' families is also regarded as essential to creating a holistic and patient-centered service. Conclusions: The quality of nursing services in home health care depends on various factors, including nurse competency, effective communication, and family involvement. Managerial support and supportive policies are also essential to ensure that nurses can deliver optimal care. This research provides valuable insight for developing training programs and policies to enhance the quality of home nursing services.
Perception of Nursing Students on Clinical Teaching and Learning of Public Health Nurses: A Descriptive Qualitative Approach Yoga Tri Wijayanti, Dewi Nurhanifah, A. Syamsinar Asmi, Suprapto Suprapto, Rasi Rahagia, Rida' Millati Malaysian Journal of Nursing, 2025 Background: Clinical teaching and learning are fundamental to nursing education, particularly for public health nurses. However, bridging the persistent theory-practice gap remains a challenge. This study explores nursing students' perceptions of clinical teaching and learning for public health nurses in Indonesia. Methods: A qualitative approach was used, involving telephone-based interviews with 18 final-year nursing students. Data were analysed using thematic analysis, guided by in-depth individual interviews and semi structured guidelines. Results: Three key factors were identified as crucial for successful clinical learning: innovative teaching methods, effective supervision, and opportunities for autonomy. While students valued clinical experiences for enhancing their competencies, they also faced several challenges. These included negative attitudes from clinical staff, lack of essential equipment, low student motivation, limited learning opportunities, and a shortage of qualified clinical supervisors. Conclusion: Strengthening clinical teaching and learning is vital for developing public health nursing competencies. A collaborative effort between nursing education institutions and clinical stakeholders is necessary to create a supportive learning environment. Addressing these challenges through better supervision, resource allocation, and innovative teaching strategies will help bridge the theory-practice gap and enhance the preparedness of nursing graduates for professional practice.
Building Nurse Competency Strategy at Public Health Center in Indonesia: A Descriptive Qualitative Approach Suprapto, Muh Ihsan Kamaruddin, Herlianty, Dewi Nurhanifah Malaysian Journal of Nursing, 2024 Background:Nurses play a crucial role in providing quality healthcare services to the community, particularly in public health centers in Indonesia. This study aims to explore the building of nurse competency strategies in the public health setting. Methods: Aqualitative research design with a descriptive approach was utilized. Data collection techniques through interviews. The informants consisted of fifteen people, with key informants in the primary setting, and were analyzed using a descriptive-qualitative approach with content analysis techniques. Results:The study results showed that two categories have arisen: the spiritual approach and the technological approach. The research findings on developing the competency of nurses in health services can be realized through education and training based on spiritual and technological aspects of building the competency of nurses. Improving nurse competence can be done through spiritual and technology-based education and training. Conclusion:By implementing the proposed strategies, it is hoped that nurses will be better equipped to provide high-quality care to the community, ultimately improving health outcomes and well-being. The implementation of public health nurses cannot be separated from the role of nurses in a public health center. Community health nurses in a public health center have at least six roles and functions, namely, as nursing case finders, health educators, coordinators and collaborators, counselors, and role models.
Human resource development and job satisfaction among nurses Suprapto Suprapto, Nursyamsi Norma Lalla, Trimaya Cahya Mulat, Darmi Arda International Journal of Public Health Science, 2023 The skills of a good nurse manager, the quality and quantity of human resources, and the development of human resources to face changes both the internal and external environments begin with building nurses' commitment to various indicators of human resources development in hospitals that have an impact on customer or patient satisfaction. Quantitative research with an analytical observational approach was conducted in hospitals, with a sample of 136 nurses from the population obtained by probability sampling. The results of the statistical test that training is the human resources development factor that most affect the job satisfaction of nurses in hospitals with an Exp (B) ratio or odds of 1.790, indicating that nurses with more specialized training tend to be 1.790 times more satisfied than nurses with less specialized training, and that this is also true since their Exp B grades are good. This study concludes that training has a big impact on how happy nurses are. As healthcare providers in hospitals, nurses need to optimize their abilities and competencies to raise the standard of nursing care. Nursing directors are essential in building and recruiting, and measuring nurse competencies.
Nurse competence in implementing public health care Suprapto Suprapto, Trimaya Cahya Mulat, Nur Syamsi Norma Lalla International Journal of Public Health Science, 2021 Health development is a way of increasing awareness, willingness and ability to live healthy for everyone so that an optimal degree of public health can be achieved. The purpose of knowing how the relationship between nurse competence and community health care activities. This study employed quantitative approach and correlation analysis. The population was nurses who work at public health center in Makassar City, Indonesia, however there were 118 nurses who meet the criteria in their selection. There were relationships between attitudes, skills, and competencies with the level of implementation of community health services and that there is an interaction between competence and training. The results of the competency analysis obtained an OR value of 6.429, meaning that public health center nurses who have good competence have a chance of 6.429 times to carry out community health care activities optimally. Most dominant with the implementation of public health care is the interaction between competence and training. The competence of nurses need to be improved in order to optimize the implementation of community health services through training, coaching through assigned teams, and collaborating with peers and providing support in the form of policies for rewards and sanctions such as nurse career paths.
Relationship between Smoking and Hereditary with Hypertension Suprapto Suprapto, Trimaya Cahya Mulat, Nur Syamsi Norma Lalla Kemas, 2021 Smoking describes overt behavior where smokers inhale tobacco. High blood pressure describes the condition of systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg and diastolic ≥ 90 mmHg at 2 times checking blood pressure measurements within 5 minutes duration in calm conditions. This type of research is an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling using is a purposive sampling method. Data were analyzed by Chi-Square Test. Using Chi-Square test analysis prove p-value = 0. 016 which is less than the significance value (0.05), proves that there is an important relationship between smoking habits with high blood events and there is a relationship between the generation aspect and high blood events and by using the Chi-Square test proves p-value = 0. 023 were less than the significance value (0.05). There is a link between smoking and the history of generation to the hypertension event in the area of the Makassar City Health Center of Barombong. It can be applied by respondents and families in helping to lower blood pressure in an efficient and efficient way by avoiding aspects that can be replaced.
Relationship between satisfaction with nurse work performance in health services in hospitals Suprapto Indian Journal of Public Health Research and Development, 2019 Background of the current era of globalization suggests that market mechanisms will be increasingly dominated by business organizations that provide services or produce superior products that have good competitiveness and take advantage of market opportunities. Providing quality service is inseparable from human resources that produce good performance and achievement. One of the factors that correlates nurses’ performance or work performance is the lack of a person's satisfaction with their work. Method descriptive analytic research with cross sectional approach. Information and data in this study were collected through a questionnaire on all nurses who worked at the hospital. After the data is obtained then an analysis is carried out to find whether there is a relationship between job satisfaction and the work performance of implementing nurses. Results, show that nurses who have good job satisfaction are 15 people (57.7%), showing good job performance. This shows that nurses who have good job satisfaction will have the desire to provide more energy and responsibility in supporting the success and welfare of the hospital. Multivariate analysis shows that the independent variables are related to the dependent variable. The results of the analysis obtained job satisfaction of 0.50 then it can be stated to have a significant relationship to work performance. Conclusion there is a relationship between satisfaction with nurse work performance. There is a significant relationship between job satisfaction with work performance working in a hospital treatment room. In providing good and quality health services, both in terms of service, care and also good facilities for patients. Job satisfaction is proven to provide a relatively good relationship to the improvement of work performance, it also does not rule out the possibility for companies to consider other factors that can provide convenience in the field of health services.
