Biography
Mexican archaeologist and historian interested in shipwreck processes, fears and mutinies on board, European naval services, and privateering. Researcher at the University of Navarra (2022-2024), collaborator at the Subdirectorate of Underwater Archaeology at INAH-Mexico (2000-2009), Nautical Archaeology Society (UK) Tutor. Member of the international research group Contractor State Group (UNAV). Marcos and Celia Maus Prize and the Alfonso Caso Medal for MA and PhD studies (UNAM). NextGenerationEU (UNAV, Pamplona) and Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellow (LMU-Munich). Articles in International Journal of Maritime History, RiMe, Review of Social History, Cuadernos de Historia Moderna, and Tiempos Modernos. Books (coord.): Arqueología Marítima en Mexico (INAH, 2012), Imperios de corsarios y piratas (RUHM 2021), and with Torres-Sánchez, Los corsarios y el negocio de la guerra en la Edad Moderna (Albatros, 2025).
