Sharika Rai

Biography

Sharika Rai is a dedicated legal academic and researcher based in Karnataka, India, who has served as an Assistant Professor at the SDM Law College, Centre for Post Graduate Studies & Research in Law, since June 2006. She holds an LLM from Bangalore University, which she completed in 2000. In addition to her primary faculty role, she is affiliated with the Karnataka State Law University and contributes her legal expertise to institutional oversight as an External Member for Research Ethics at St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University) and Yenepoya (Deemed to be University).Her extensive body of research reflects a deep interest in the intersection of law and social justice, with a particular focus on the rights of marginalized communities and evolving family dynamics. Rai has published several journal articles and conference papers addressing sensitive topics such as transgender rights, the detrimental role of media in gender identity, and the legal complexities of gender-affirming surgery
