Biography

Dr. Ramkrishnan R. is a Scientist C at the Central Academy for State Forest Service, Coimbatore, under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. Before joining government service in 2022, he served for eight years as a Senior Grade Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Amrita University, Coimbatore. He holds a PhD from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and specializes in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering, with work spanning Himalayan seismicity, ground motion modeling, microzonation, slope stability, and erosion control. He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications, received more than 675 citations, holds a patent, and serves as a reviewer for several international journals. His work on beach erosion control has gained national media attention, and he has received honors including the Bharat Vikas Award. He is also a keen traveler and motorcycling enthusiast.
