Biography
Senior Assistant Professor Nikolay Yankov currently is the Head of Indology at the Department of “Classical East”, Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology in the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Nikolay teaches Hindi and Indian religions at the department. He has Bachelor's and Master's degree in Indian studies and PHD in Indian Literature and Culture. His major interests are in the field of Cultural Anthropology, Comparative Religion, Vedic Studies, Indian tribal heritage, Sanskrit and Hindi languages. He is author of four books: a travelogue "Pen, chocolate and two rupees" (2010, Janet 45); fiction stories "Touching the feet" (2014, Janet 45); a historical novel on the Sarakatsani people "βλάχος" (2019, Janet 45); a monograph "Vedic India: myth and self-sacrifice" (2020; East-West publishing house). He is a member of the Governing board of Friends of India Club and of the Bulgarian-Indian Society "Eagle circle".
