Julia Graziele Alves Marelli
PhD Student, Department of Biochemistry · Federal University of Ceará
Research Interests
Research focused on lectins derived from plants and their potential application in the treatment of cutaneous leishmaniasis, including biochemical and immunological analyses.
Biography
Biomedical scientist with research experience in microbiology, molecular biology, and biochemistry. During undergraduate studies, worked with plant-derived compounds, investigating the cytotoxic and antimicrobial activity of Cereus jamacaru DC in the context of urinary tract infections. During the Master's program, developed research in molecular biology focused on oncogenic viruses, including HPV, CMV, and EBV, and their role in cervical cancer. Currently, as a PhD student, continues to apply molecular biology approaches alongside biochemistry and parasitology, with research focused on plant lectins and their potential therapeutic applications against cutaneous leishmaniasis, involving biochemical and immunological analyses.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Centro Universitário UNIFACISA (Campina Grande, Brazil). Master’s degree in Health Sciences from the Federal University of Cariri (UFCA), with a focus on oncogenic microorganisms and molecular biology, investigating HPV, CMV, and EBV in cervical cancer. Currently a PhD student in Biochemistry at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), Brazil.
