Biography

Alcides J. D. Lopes aka Tchida Afrikanu is graduated in Anthropology at the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Antropologia do Departamento de Antropologia e Museologia , Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). Alcides does research in Cultural Anthropology. He is currently an Associated Member of the International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM), Researcher Associated to the Laboratory for Advanced Studies, Observamus; the Nucleus for Anthropology and REALities, NA.REAL; and at the Center for Studies and Research on Ethnicity, NEPE (UFPE) Brazil. He collaborates with the Research Group GESTUAL at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon, and with the Centre for the Arts in Society, at Leiden University, The Netherlands.
